History and present

The first mentions of the club date back to 1922 when Kalju Sports Club was founded in Nõmme.

A year later, in 1923, the football team of Nõmme Kalju was established and they played on the Hiiu Stadium. Kalju was re-established by Uno Piir in 1997 when the seven-time Estonian Champion FC Norma ceased to exist. Nõmme Kalju was made up of the footballers from Tallinn Football School and the Youth Football Club of Õhtuleht (The Evening Paper). In 2002, Kuno Tehva, an operator in the entertainment field, joined in to help with the development of the club. He and the new management of the club made history after an 80-years break by taking top football back to Nõmme! Nõmme Kalju finished second in the 2011 season, ensuring a place in the UEFA Europa League. The goal of Nõmme Kalju in 2012 is to become the Estonian Champion.
